THE ACETATE COLLECTION
Rich in colour and distinctive in character, acetate gives each frame a unique presence.
Rooted in French design and handcrafted in Japan from carefully selected Japanese acetate, every piece is shaped and polished by hand for depth, comfort and a refined finish. Each style is produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces.
Acetate Eyeglass Frames with Real Depth of Color
Takiron sheet acetate is prized for its dimensional stability and surface finish. The color runs through the full thickness of the material, so an acetate frame keeps its character as it ages instead of fading at the edges. Tortoise stays tortoise; amber stays amber. Each L'Écurie Paris acetate frame is cut from sheet, hand-assembled in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, Japan, and polished by hand to a finish injected plastic cannot reach. The temples close on set hinges and finish at gold-tipped metal end pieces.
Why Acetate for Prescription Glasses
Acetate carries a prescription well. The material is warm against the skin, easy for an optician to adjust to your face, and stable enough to hold that adjustment. Its fuller rims sit naturally around stronger lenses and edge them discreetly. Because the color is the material itself, daily handling leaves no wear line where a coating would rub through. Tortoise eyeglasses in particular have earned their reputation as the frame that suits almost everyone: the mottled pattern softens against skin the way a solid color cannot.

Our optical collection spans two materials. Acetate brings colour, warmth, and presence. Titanium brings minimum weight and minimalist lines. Wearers of bolder frames tend toward acetate. Those who prefer their glasses unnoticed tend toward titanium. Many end up with one of each.
