Yves Saint Laurent, A French Designer Icon

Yves Saint Laurent, A French Designer Icon

I went to art school in the 18th district of Paris, and this has been a revelation. It opened my eyes about life and art, and allowed me to be around other artists.

I admired Yves Saint Laurent creations, and grew up immersed in Parisian architecture, art, fashion, and decorative motifs.

Yves Saint Laurent was a true innovator of his time and changed the way women dress. He was famous for dressing women with Trench coats in the seventies.

He also brought art and fashion together, being among the first to put art on a runway and take his designs into galleries, too! Most famous of all though was his 1965 Mondrian collection, which included six classic Sixties-style shift dresses in homage to the Dutch artist’s grid-like paintings and his modernist spirit.

In the late 1960s, at the height of the sexual revolution and rise of second-wave feminism, Yves Saint Laurent gave his pan-generational clients an unparalleled assurance and an insouciant panache—sex appeal without vulgarity.

It was risqué, but it also tapped into the new mood of sexual freedom.

He was a master at blending classic French style with modern fashion. He was sparking emotions by breaking classic fashion norms and adding a touch of beauty and “sexy” to his work.

I also love when people feel an emotion when they touch and wear our L’Écurie Paris glasses, when it gives them a real experience.

L’Écurie Paris creates designer eyewear frames and celebrates a heritage steeped in constant search for beauty, from the wonders of Parisian architecture, art, fashion, and decorative motifs.

Yves Saint Laurent is a true French designer icon and an eternal source of inspiration.
